Chris here...Yep, we learned two valuable lessons today. First, the twins loved playing with an empty bottle and twist on cap which you will see Mama assisting. Second, we should have brought 2 of every toy as we had a few minor disputes over whose was whose.
Our days consist of visits to the baby house from 10-12, lunch, then back for our second visit from 4-6. We then come home, make dinner, and count our blessings from the day and oh yeah: the internet in our apartment!!! It is so nice to have it!!! We are usually extremely tired at night as we seem to still be trying to get over our jet lag. We had a fabulous dinner with our travel partners at their apartment tonight! We have thoroughly enjoyed their company.
Jessica here: We have truly been having a wonderful experience. It is very different here but nothing that we cannot endure. We are constantly practicing our Russian with the kids. They think it is pretty funny actually. I guess we aren't saying it exactly right because "nyet" and "foo" (yuck) is followed by lots of laughing. Or maybe that is just testing the waters.....hard to tell with 2 year olds. :) They both understand Kazakh and Russian and listen very well to the caregivers and interpreter. I think they are both exhausted after each visit. Our little boy told Chris to "go home" today in Russian. Not sure if he was just telling him that he was going home because he was going back into his room or if he really wanted Chris to "go home". We won't take offense yet, it is only day 4 :)
Those of you who have twins (Jodi) will understand that they talk to each other, of course they are talking in Russian, but it appears that it is still their own "lingo." You can see the wheels turning as each one will try to exchange their toy for the other one's. It's the same phrase each time. It also appears that our little girl is much more concerned about the whereabouts of her brother versus the other way around. She loves to come up and give him kisses which he is less than thrilled about ;)

Well I know where you are thanks to FB but where have I been? I wasn't getting the updates from google reader from your blog! Thanks to Lanetta I am following along now and sooo happy for you! They are absolutely beautiful children and look so happy and healthy! Enjoy every moment! See, it really does happen! You are there and you are a mama and papa now! Yay! Enjoy that nice weather. If we ever take Lindsay back, we're going in May! So much nicer than Feb/March!
Jessica & Chris (this is Beth here who is logged in with Jodi's account). Congratulations to you both! We were so excited to hear the news. The twins are adorable! Other than Adler, do they have names? I would love to know what they have been called since they were born. Keep in touch and enjoy every minute of this wonderful journey.

Thank you for sharing about your days. I wondered how much time you were able to visit the children. Are you staying close to the orphanage? We were an 1 1/2 hour drive from ours, so we were only able to visit once per day due to the added drive time. I'm glad you are able to visit twice for a significant amount of time. Out of curiosity, do you interact with any of the other children at the orphanage? How much of the orphanage are you able to see? We were never able to see any of our daughter's rooms in Russia, so I was just curious. Last question...when will you have custody of the children (when will they leave the orphanage)?
I laughed at the sibling rivalry comment. I agree that you need one of each toy when you child is similar in age (even if they are a boy and a girl). Just something for them to argue/whine about :o) Not that we know anything about that :o)
The children look so happy and adorable!! Thanks for sharing all the pictures from your day.
Did Adler like the bow in her hair?
The street meat (Chix) across from the baby house is a great easy supper to take home after a long day. Ask Oxana to help you get one. We loved them:)
It is funny how 4 hours of play a day can leave you feeling so exhausted!!!!
I love those puffy bows in your baby girl's hair. Too funny!
I also think it's hilarious that she keeps tabs on him while he runs around, oblivious. Probably the first of many such male interactions in her life :)
I meant to comment on the large, blue bow...very cute and oh, so Russian!
