Day 59 and 60

A much needed nap after a hard day at play and little sleep the night before

Taking a big bite of Daddy's burger (our first American meal in 60 days)

Being bashful by the pillow

One of the views from our 14th floor (Penthouse) apartment in Almaty

Not wanting to go to sleep before the midnight flight to Almaty

We believe he can sleep anywhere...just like his Papa!

Before heading to the boarding gate

He bumped his head and had a "boo boo." He wanted to have it kissed by Mama...too bad he was in the bubble and Mama was 10 feet below

We had a great trip to Almaty. Our driver picked us up in Karaganda at 10pm on Saturday the 18th and we boarded the plane at about 11:30pm. We had decided to keep Adler and Aidan up in an effort for them to sleep on the flight. This worked ok for Aidan but not so much for Adler. She has come into her own and we often refer to her as Ms. Chatterbox. She was talking a lot on the plane saying...Prvyet Dada (hello man), Daddy sleeping, Mama sleeping, Aidan sleeping for a good bit of the flight. However, she finally went to sleep at around 1:15. We arrived about 1:45 and both were a little dazed and upset upon our arrival. The flight went very smooth considering our original worries about it being a small, propped engine plane (Fokker 50) that still had ashtrays in the armrests. We were a little nervous at first but we knew GOD was in control.
We basically had a free day on Sunday; we had to get Visa photos done for our children. Today we had medicals done that are required for the U.S. Embassy. We then had dinner with our travel partners and the next couple that is going to Karaganda. Tomorrow (Tuesday) is another free day and we are planning on taking a 3 hour trip to the mountains. We go to the U.S. Embassy on Wednesday and fly out early Thursday morining. We can't wait to see everyone!

Once again, I am playing catch up. I was in Lexington, KY for a conference last week and have been reading all the new posts. I love all the photos. Sorry to hear about Chris's kidney stones. Nothing worse than being sick in another country. I know you are ready to return home. I cannot wait to see your children (hopefully this fall at a soccer game). Thinking of you!

Safe travels.

I bet you guys will sleep for a week straight once you get home to your own bed! What an incredible journey for all four of you. I know we have enjoyed watching you grow closer as a family. I hope once you get them kids home and comfortable, you'll bring them up to the office so we can meet them (and slip them candy when your not looking). Have a great trip home!
